Android Q Beta

The very first developer preview of Google’s Android Q Beta is now available. Here is what we can expect in this version, with its release date and Name.

Google’s Android Q Beta developer preview is now available. It hasnot been fully released yet, so we donot recommend this to the public. Although it is not released if you got the required hardware you can download it.

Currently the Beta program is supported by Oneplus 6, Nokia 7 plus, Oppo R15 pro, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Vivo X21, Sony Xperia XZ2. But the google has announced that on 7 May it the beta program will support many other device.

If you got the compatible device then you can easily download the beta program in it. However, we do not recommend using this for the present because of being a developer preview.

If you are still willing to install it than here’s how you do it.

Step 1: Firstly fully backup your device by going to setting and Backup.

Step 2: Enrol in the Android Beta program here.

Step 3: Wait for an update or check manually Setting>System>System Update.

Android Q Release Date

The developer preview of the beta program is available now. The public beta is said to be announced on 7 May at Google I/O 2019. And the final release can be expected to land in August.

We cannot expect the program to directly roll over to all the devices but the program will first be available to pixel devices as they are a part of beta programme.

Not every Android Version will be able to get this update. See the table below to know the distribution percentage to particular android version.

After the release of developer preview we can see this new features in this Android Q Beta program.

  • Battery icon in quick setting which shows how long the battery is gonna last.
  • Screen cast recording which once gets active can be triggered by a long press on the screen.
  • Ability to share Wifi network via QR code.
  • Accent Colour customization.
  • Quick action on notifications which shows you ability to block, show silently and keep alerting.
  • Emergency shortcut button available in power options.
  • Desktop mode.
  • Support for the foldable phone.

Android Q Rumors

As we have already lost the recent tabs features in the Android Pie v9.0. There is currently a rumor that the beta program will have the loss of back button. The back button function could be probably replaced by the single home button.
